Whatagraph vs. Alternatives
Compare Whatagraph against four common reporting setups across the 10 aspects that matter most to marketing agencies and teams.
TLDR
The Stitched Stack (Looker Studio + Supermetrics or Funnel + warehouse or spreadsheets) is cheap to start and endlessly flexible, but needs manual maintenance and breaks as you grow.
Whatagraph brings all your cross-channel marketing data in one governed platform, where every metric is defined once and pushed to reports, dashboards, and AI tools.
Choose Whatagraph if:
you want one trusted source for all your marketing data, fast answers your whole team can rely on, and a reporting setup that scales seamlessly as you take on more clients, accounts or locations.
Choose the stitched stack if:
you have ~5 clients, a dedicated person to maintain your reporting stack, and the flexibility of building it yourself matters to you.

Whatagraph vs. The stitched stack
| Feature | The Stitched Stack | Whatagraph |
|---|---|---|
| One reliable source of truth | The Stitched StackYour data sits in spreadsheets, screenshots, and separate platforms, held together by connectors that keep dropping. There's no single place to see how every channel is doing. | WhatagraphBring data from all your channels in one place via native, stable connectors that don't break. Blend cross-channel data, create custom metrics, and standardize dimensions. |
| AI you can trust | The Stitched StackPoint an AI at this setup and it reads raw, scattered data, then fills the gaps with guesses. You can't trust an answer you can't trace. | WhatagraphAsk ChatGPT or Claude over MCP and it answers from your cleaned, governed data. Same definitions as your reports, so the numbers match. |
| Self-serve insights for the whole team | The Stitched StackOnly the person who built the setup knows how to change or fix it, so everyone else waits on them for answers. | WhatagraphAnyone on the team gets the answer in minutes, whether they open a report or ask ChatGPT or Claude over MCP. No ticket, no waiting on the data owner. |
| White-labeled reports in minutes | The Stitched StackBuilding a client report by hand can take most of a week, and Looker Studio reports can break mid-client calls. | WhatagraphWhite-label reports build off your data in minutes and update on their own with AI or templates. They load every time, under your own domain. |
| Off-track goals flagged early | The Stitched StackWith no live pacing, off-track spend or a missed goal only shows up when someone digs into it, usually after the client has noticed. | WhatagraphSee all your clients, accounts, and locations in one view and set goals. Whatagraph flags anything off track automatically, so you catch it before the client does. |
| Scale without a bottleneck | The Stitched StackThe setup lives in one person’s head and can’t be templated across clients, so onboarding means a manual rebuild and depends on one person or team. | WhatagraphLinked templates get the next client live in about an hour and anyone can run them, so growth doesn’t hinge on one specialist or team. |
| AI agents that build and watch (coming soon) | The Stitched StackAny AI or agent you bolt on the stitched stack breaks the moment a connector does. You could build agents to watch the stack but they’ll need to check several tools and likely won’t be able to make adjustments easily. | WhatagraphIQ Agents run on your governed data. They build reports and watch every connection and metric on your behalf, and fix themselves when something breaks, before a client notices. |
Frequently Asked Questions
How is Whatagraph different from Looker Studio with Supermetrics?
With a stitched stack, the connectors, the data layer, and the reporting are three separate tools you wire together. Whatagraph is one governed platform where the data is defined once and reports build off it, so there's nothing to stitch and nothing to reconcile manually.
You bring all your cross-channel marketing data in one place, define metrics, standardize dimensions, and then push this governed data to reports, dashboards, and your favorite AI tools.
I've built a lot in Looker Studio already. How hard is it to move?
It depends on the volume of data, the number of data sources, and how complex your setup is. But Whatagraph makes migrating as easy as possible:
1. Connect your sources in a few clicks with native connectors, no middleware to wire up.
2. Standardize your dimensions with IQ Dimensions, and build source blends with a no-code setup. Save custom metrics and blends as templates, and add them to every report and dashboard instead of starting from scratch again.
3. Build your reports fast with Whatagraph IQ, tweak it, brand it, then save as a template and re-use it the next time.
Tip: To speed things up, marketers on Whatagraph would create a few templates that matter most to them.
For example, Linda van Baal, Online Marketing Consultant at YourFellow, built a template for lead generation and one for ecommerce clients, when she switched to Whatagraph from Funnel and Looker Studio stitched stack.
The next time she onboards a new client or account, she’d just duplicate the template she needed, swap out the data sources, and voila - a report is ready in minutes. (Read Linda's migration story in full.)
If you get stuck, our Whatagraph’s Help Center has step-by-step articles for setting things up, and our live chat replies to questions within 4 minutes.
Will my connectors actually stay connected?
Whatagraph maintains 60+ native integrations in-house, so when a platform changes its API, fixing it is our job, not your Friday afternoon. Whereas in a stitched stack, you’d need to constantly babysit connectors yourself. And when something breaks, you’re left manually configuring Looker Studio or reaching out to different support teams.
Can Whatagraph handle blended and custom metrics?
Yes. You can blend sources and define custom metrics once in our Data Hub, and every report and AI answer uses the same definition every time. This means your reports and AI answers are always accurate and up to date.
How does the cost of a stitched stack compare to Whatagraph?
It depends on what's in the stack. A couple of spreadsheets and free Looker Studio can be cheaper than Whatagraph, and we won't pretend otherwise.
But that's rarely the whole bill. Looker Studio is free; the connectors feeding it usually aren't. Supermetrics and Funnel tend to be priced per seat or per channel, so the cost climbs with every source and client you add.
Then there's the part that never hits an invoice: the hours spent building reports by hand and keeping connectors alive. For some teams that's most of a week, every month.
Whatagraph is one platform priced on connected data sources, with the connectors, the data layer, AI, and the reporting all included. As you scale you pay for one thing that grows with you, not a pile of subscriptions plus the time to hold them together.
Maatwerk Online saved $4,000 a year just by dropping Supermetrics after the switch, and now covers its full Whatagraph cost by licensing reports back to clients.
